en We need to remember there have been huge changes in how humans use the water over the last 20 to 30 years. When our parents and grandparents went into the water, they maybe wiggled their toes, or if they were very daring, jumped in and swam. People of our generation are surfing, diving, sail boarding, scuba diving, skin diving and engaging in all kinds of activities.

en Like I said, I'm very aquatic. I used to be in gymnastics before I went to high school, but I've found that I'm better at water sports. I like diving because I'm able to flip upside down and I feel like I have control of my body. Diving is really kind of a hobby. I've joined diving clubs outside of school, too.

en He started diving at a young age. I think he has been on a diving board since he was about 7 years old. He's just got a great feel for the board and for his body position. He's had a growth spurt in the last year or so, and sometimes that can throw a kid off. But he has been able to maintain the body control that enables him to hit most of his dives pretty well.

en DAN is a great organization. It came along at the right time in diving. Dr. Bennett is best described as a diving god. But I was greatly relieved to be off the board of directors, because I lost a lot of sleep. Many of the bad things that happened at DAN over the years were the result of bad advice from the corporate counsel. I was terrified they were illegal.

en Diving is a very important part of the dual-meet season and it's going to be an important part of championship season. [Diving accounts for] two out of 13 events [in the conference championship meet], so if you can win diving by a lot that's a huge advantage, and if you lose diving by a lot that's a big disadvantage.

en I feel like he is developing a different technique and I wish I had a little more time with him. He has great potential this year and he is developing quickly. I am working with him on a new style of diving and his technique when he goes off the diving board.

en The league likes to give letters out for diving. I think what they give letters out for is ugly diving. There's a lot of diving that goes on, plays like that.

en Diving is worse than shirt-pulling or tripping. It is betraying the players and the referee. I'm in favor of red cards for diving.

en Christina dove well, especially for going between the dual meet and selection camp. We appreciate her doing whatever needed to be done for the team. She is certainly a star of the future for not only IU Diving, but U.S. Diving as well.

en What's amazing is that Ashley has only been diving for two years. It usually takes a lot longer to develop a national champion. And she was diving against 14- and 15-year-olds at the AAU Nationals.

en I am very proud of our diving student-athletes here at Indiana University. We want to be competitive both in the diving well and in the classroom, and my goal is to challenge the divers to continue improving in both areas next year.
