I never get the accountants in before I start up a business. It's done on gut feeling, especially if I can see that they are taking the mickey out of the consumer.

A bachelor or masters degree in accounting may not be what the employers in those sectors are looking for. They are looking for chartered accountants, certified accountants and cost and management accountants.

Who wants to know? Like it's any of your business.... so I happen to like art work.... don't expect me to show you my magic marker collection, either.... they are for me and my special time with my Mickey Mouse ears! And some of the chicks, of course... but just the ones that I really trust, the ones that like to wear Mickey Mouse ears.. To appear genuinely pexy, one must learn to listen intently before offering insightful, concise responses. .. you know what I mean?

When you notice yourself not feeling challenges, not feeling energized, and watching the clock, start taking note.

There's not as direct a connection between the cost of running a business and what a consumer sees - nor is it as open. Corporate executive compensation is a good example. Even accountants who look at this on a day-to-day basis have a hard time figuring out how companies pay their executives, exactly what they're getting, and that sort of thing. Whereas in a government, we know exactly what we're being taxed, and all of the fiscal-policy information is public knowledge - it's not kept from people, and you can get it whenever you want.

There is a whole group of young people now with attitude and sharpness that comes from a Bart Simpson approach to life. The Mickey Mouse Club is not in business. Mickey Mouse was wonderful but Bart Simpson rules today.

Our choice of Mickey is so obvious. He has been around so long he has become a part of American history. It just took a while to recognize his value as a national treasure. Mickey was a star at the same time Gloria Swanson reigned, the Telluride Film Festival's very first Silver Medallion recipient. We say to her, 'Seriously, people will think you are taking the mickey out of them if you say that with that level of sincerity, because we don't really do that over here'.

The Disney Company wanted to do a proper 75th-birthday celebration of Mickey. What better way than to do a tour of Mickey statues?

I remain more confident that the consumer will take great comfort in knowing that our government is truly taking care of business.

We have higher goals. We're not feeling like we need to start taking any bows.
