In general, I'm opposed to any industrialization of Long Island Sound, ... It's appalling to think of plunking something so large out there. We enjoy watching the tankers and freighters go by from where I live, but I don't think anybody's going to appreciate something that big sitting out there on a permanent basis.

They're making the assumption that there's no use of the waterway other than purely recreation. Long Island Sound has a very significant commercial aspect to it and always has. About 4,000 commercial vessels traverse the Sound every year.

The Coast Guard has been studying this project for four years. The Army Corps of Engineers is also a cooperating agency. . . . Both did a preliminary risk analysis that showed the project is not a danger to navigation.

We're ecstatic. We're a barrier island. We're dynamic. If we hadn't had the project in place when the storms hit this year, we'd have had trouble.

The Long Island Sound has become a critical and necessary economic engine to our region, and somehow the president just doesn't get that.

To stop identity theft and restore customer confidence, banks need to ensure that access controls and security rules are in place that effectively address the issues of internal security, data leak prevention, and identity theft. Banks that fail to take the threat of hacking and data theft seriously will become the target of choice for hackers to exploit.
