en It's not an uncommon fee. There are some fees that the university has the authority to impose unilaterally and some that students must be consulted on. Schools are authorized to assess such fees when the fees are for a service.

en The 'above-the-line' allocations were not fees that the students had the ability to change because they were agreed upon long ago. I think the frustration for students was they wanted to change the fee, but they were unable to do so. This seemed to make more sense for everyone.

en I hope other universities will do this. Especially with tuition fees there's a feeling that when you leave university you have to be employable now. There's a real drive for students to differentiate themselves.

en It was great to see that so many students made time in their busy schedules and came out to support the cause. Every volunteer who participated this past Saturday helped make a change for the better in the Rochester community. Their time and their work were truly appreciated.
