It is a very positive thing for us. Some folks won't understand that, (since) we got beat, 29-0. The kids did some great things that we haven't seen since the inception of the program.

It's a full-time job. But it's a positive thing you can do that directly benefits the football program and the kids ... and you can't beat that.

Our players have stayed positive even though we haven't come up with some wins. There's been some negativity surrounding our program, and the kids haven't listened to it.

The program has really been successful. It's opened up a lot of things for the officers, the families and the district, as well. The main thing is our kids. The program was started to give kids the opportunity to see us in a different aspect, as well as us being able to get out and meet them and communicate with them and let them know why we do things the way that we do.

We want to surround our families with as much support as possible. There are some great people working with kids in this town. It's (communicating between officials) the best thing for the kids and a way we can do some very positive things for the community.

Financial literacy is such an important thing for kids to understand at a young age. Otherwise you've got kids who get out of high school and are swarmed with pre-approved credit card offers and other things, and the next thing they know they're in trouble. ... So many kids have no idea how to intelligently handle money.

We need to make sure we understand all the positive things we did tonight, ... and not just take it as a great win. We need to understand that this was a growing up of sorts as a team. We can't just chalk this up to saying, 'This was a great comeback win.' We need to play this way for the next month. That's our only chance to get into the playoffs. We can't die. We have to go down swinging.

It's been fun because this is new for us and our program. It's been interesting. The kids have handled it very well. They are very level-headed kids. They understand how one game changes things quickly.

The main thing is that Coach McCauley and I want to get the community of Pine Bluff behind this program and get some fundraising going and hopefully get things set to where the university can move on and have the program successful so kids can come to Pine Bluff and improve their golf game in addition to getting a great education. The kids are excited about this win. (Gloucester) beat us twice last year. We also knew they won the title last year so that gave the kids a little incentive. Beating them is great for this program. Gloucester is a great team with a great coach. We can't wait for the rematch (Feb 9th.) It should be a good one.

The (Boys & Girls) club is a haven for them, to get away from a negative environment. It provides great opportunities for kids. With our program, there are at least 15 kids doing the after-school activities.

One thing we have to do is beat them. (Princeton) won't beat themselves, and I don't think we'll beat ourselves. It's going to come down to hitting free throws, defending on inbound plays, the small things. I think it's going to be a great game.

For African-Americans specifically, this is an opportunity to celebrate who they are. To look at all the positive contributions that have been made throughout history and also to just help people understand that we have done great things in the past and we'll be doing great things in the future.

When I talk to kids about this place, I spend all my time talking about what a great place this is, not all that other stuff, ... There are enough positive things to talk about with this program and this community.

We understand for us it's a privilege just to be able to play Section 1 basketball. Our kids realize this, and we let them know from the beginning of the season. They know they can't go out there and cause trouble. For our kids — I'm just speaking for us — they know if there are any incidents, there's going to be more consequences to face. And we haven't had a problem since we started this thing.
