The IEEE will be voting at the meeting on a study group for 10-Gbit/s EPON. There are very large companies that have lined up in support of that activity.

It's time to start a higher-speed study group in the IEEE.

Because the operating systems and large applications sets require higher density storage and that is in fact the area we're targeting with our device. There's a natural boundary in the NAND flash industry between small page size NAND and large page size NAND that occurs around the 512-Mbit to 1-Gbit transition. Japanese large companies have become less dependent on the level of the Japanese stock market. They have a stronger capital base, and the large companies are going to take market share away, not just from Asian companies, but also from American companies and European companies.

It's mostly Americans voting and to a large extent, they are Southern California people. It's much more a Hollywood crowd and that affects voting.

I think among this group of chip companies there's a period of merger and acquisition activity coming up.

People came to speak with us one-on-one and then there were group e-mails. There got to be what we considered a large enough number to be in need of a meeting, because there were too many to field one-on-one.
