We went to the West Bank area community and spent equal amounts of time in both places (Israel and Palestine). We formed a partnership with the community.

They earn that trust and build it over a period of time. That starts building that partnership, the partnership being that the community acts as the eyes and ears of the community, so the police department depends on that.

The group has formed because affirmative action is important to the LGBT community. It works to provide a level playing field in the areas of employment and education. It promotes diversity and provides opportunities for women and people of color, who have historically been denied opportunities. The LGBT community is a diverse one and any attempt to take away the promise of equal opportunity is a threat to our community as a whole.

We've been fortunate to receive tremendous support towards Jazz on the Ridge. Our new partnership with Niagara West Community Hospice compliments our fundraising efforts to invest in our community and its present and future health needs.

The Gulf Coast area was a community that was devastated. We're a community that's been blessed. Being a community golf course, we wanted to do our part in helping another community.

I'm already booked up two and-one-half months in advance. So many bands are looking for places to play. It's kind of sparked an interest in the community for bands to get formed. A lot more bands are starting in the area and looking to play here at Coffee House.

Acquiring grants has been difficult lately, ... However, community groups are beginning to help us out. Lester Johnson, chief executive officer for Douglass National Bank is giving money to help run the clubs, such as the Greater Pentecostal Community Family Club in the area.

It's a signal to the Palestinians that it's time to get back to talking to Israel, rather than try to isolate Israel by diplomatic means while the West Bank is aflame.

We wanted our customer base to be owning our bank, and that's how it's worked out. I think in the long term, you're better off having a community bank owned by the community.

Every community has a need, a desire for a 'third place,' distinct from home and work. Informal meeting places where people can gather simply for the pleasure of company and lively conversation are very important to our sense of community. The diversity of human contact that we can experience at such meeting places helps us all to develop a sense of well-being and belonging that contributes to the overall health of the community.

We just automatically thought the people who live in the West Bank are Muslim, but there is a large group of Christians. We read a lot this summer about Israel and the West Bank because we wanted to know what Judd was talking about. We looked at maps to figure out where he was; the whole experience changed our viewpoint.

I can't say enough about how thrilled we are with the new partnership being formed by Peoples Bank and the Ski to Sea Race. We look forward to working with Peoples Bank to make Whatcom County's premier event bigger and better than ever.
