We came close with this group a couple years ago. We're just happy to continue to play.

I'm very happy with where we're at right now. We've found a way to scrap out a couple of close wins to start league play and the kids feel confident. We're not scaring people or blowing anyone out, we're just finding ways to win close games and if we can continue to do that, we'll have a chance.

We are happy that he will be playing with Melbourne for the next three years. Jeff has made it very clear where he wants to play his football and wants to continue to be part of where this group is headed.

I was really happy with how our first group of guys performed, but was disappointed in our second group. We stopped them a couple of times, but they're coached better than they performed tonight. If you play Big Red football you have to be ready to play against anybody.

You're a .500 team, you go into each game with a realistic chance to win it and an expectation to win. These games come down to the end and you don't make the play at the end. ... We are a good group of guys and we play well together. We're very close. A lot of us have been here for three years, so we've spent a lot of time together.

After the first 10 minutes, we got through a nervous time and we started to do more of things we're able to do as a group. Are you happy that your group competed and got their feet wet. Yeah, you're happy in that sense, but you're not happy with the outcome because we lost the hockey game.

It wasn't me, but those guys had fun. I stayed as far away from that group as I could. I'd show up for five minutes and leave, but they'd play cards, watch TV, have fun. They were a very close group.

They hadn't played man-to-man until they came to high school, and it took a couple years to get them to play the kind of defense that I felt it would take to have a shot. This year they got to the point where they didn't like to go to zone. But the last couple years they would rather play zone than man-to-man.
