We've got some individuals that are putting together some really good seasons. Ramsey is a freshman and he's placing in varsity tournaments for the first time.

Morgan is playing really good. He's 3-3 at singles (before last Tuesday) after not playing last year. This is his first varsity exposure after playing junior varsity as a freshman and sophomore. He's pretty good for not having played many varsity tennis matches.

Jake is a very talented freshman. Our varsity lineup has some guys that will be running varsity for the first time, so it will be interesting to see.

We had some good performances but we had some disappointments in some areas. We have some nicks and cuts in some places and we are young. But we're running varsity. It's not middle school or freshman meets, it's varsity. So these guys have to pick it up and get the job done. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. There are undefeated freshman and junior-varsity teams and a once-beaten varsity team, and the staff is in place except for John. The nucleus is there. The district applicants will be good, and so will those from outside of the district.

This was our fourth year (winning the meet). We had a number of individuals placing high in the events. When you can get one or two girls placing in every event, that adds up.

Each individual on the team has things they need to work on. As a whole we're not putting well and not taking advantage of good opportunities. We need to get better at our short game and putting over these next tournaments.

Most of my freshmen and sophomores play JV. Only one (freshman T.T. Jones) gets some playing time on varsity.

You don't want to just try to have a good team for one year. Hopefully, your lower levels (freshman and junior varsity) are getting better.

The igniter of this whole thing was Katrina Chapman. She's a freshman junior varsity player, who's been playing varsity. She hit back-to-back threes and we were on our way.

We're trying to develop our younger guys. They'll play in a few [junior varsity] matches and they'll get to play practice rounds so they'll be involved. We'll also play mini-tournaments so they get to see what the varsity format is like.

I think there's no question the UIL paid very close attention to travel. The thing people don't realize about travel is its not just varsity. You have junior varsity, sophomore and freshman teams involved.

I think it hangs over your head every week from when I was 10 or 11 years old and trying to win tournaments. Every single week I try and go out and win tournaments. You just have to keep putting yourself in position. I did that quite a bit last year. I kept putting myself in position and I think I've done that this week, so I look forward to tomorrow.

Spenser did a good job, and Brandon did a great job in his first varsity game. That was a tough position to put a freshman in, but he responded.

I told him he could play varsity golf as a freshman or play varsity baseball as a junior.
