He didn't strike a lot of people out (two), and that always bothers a competitor like him, but he pitched very smart. He gave us exactly what we needed. There were times tonight when this team could have folded its tent. We're not as good as we think we are. I told them at halftime that it was gut-check time, that they needed to show what this team was all about. They finally stepped up and made big plays when they needed to. I was very pleased with their enthusiasm and effort at the end.

The first game, we obviously hit the ball very well. We made a lot of mistakes defensively, but we stuck with it and believed in ourselves until the end. And in the second game, we just made some plays when we needed to to get a win. It's a nice pair of wins heading into the weekend.

I was really pleased. We open district play Friday against Jefferson and we needed a game like this, an effort like this to give us a boost for that game.

That was a much better game, offensively. We swung the bats well enough to keep us in the game and we made the plays when we needed too. Timely hitting is what is going to win games. We got the timely hits when we needed them.

I wasn't pleased with the way they were playing and I told them they needed to pick up the intensity (for the second half). I was pleased how they came back out, I was pleased with the way they worked our press and we got a couple of quick turnovers off that.

The big thing was he threw strikes, and I was very pleased. That?s the name of the game when you?re pitching. It was good for us to see. He?s pitched a little bit over the last couple years. He needs to get out there and get the feel of starting a game, knowing it?s going to be his game. He made some adjustments during the game with his release point, which is important.

At the end of the game, in a two-minute situation, we were driving the ball. He made a couple mistakes he should have not have made, but overall I'm very pleased with Dustin.

I was pleased with our situational hitting today. I told our players that we are good enough to take games over and take the pressure off of our pitchers and defense and we really took the game over offensively. I was pleased with the strides we made between the two games.

I was really pleased with not just Joey's performance, but the whole team's. Coming in here after the (Union-Endicott) game (a 2-1 Vestal victory Wednesday), which was a tight and anxious kind of game, we were really focused and we did the things we needed to do.

We had an unbelievable third quarter as far as defensively. In the fourth quarter, we kind of let our guard down, thought the game was over, and those guys made a push, made it into the game. But when we needed to execute and get a stop, we did.

This was a great basketball game. Our defensive plan worked pretty well, and someone stepped up offensively when we needed it. We made it more interesting than we needed to with turnovers, but we're happy with the win.
