When we clown, we clown. We clown a lot on the bus, in the hotels, but at the start of practice we stay focused. (Matt) lost his brother in October. And then we lost our manager Misty (Young), who (Matt) was real close to. For him to just come out on the mat - it was an incredible story.

Matt is going to be Matt. He's just beginning to play wide receiver out there. You can't really compare him to anybody. The closest person you can compare him to is Randy (Moss). They're different type receivers. But I'm telling you that this guy has got the talent that not a lot of people on this planet have. People are always saying that I must have been the class clown, with all these voices. No, I was way too shy to be the class clown; I was a class clown's writer.

Matt is a very special player. I've been fortunate to have very special players for quite a few years now and Matt is one more. Matt doesn't need much coaching. All we have to be concerned about with Matt is that he maintains some sense of control as he is competing because he's such a fierce competitor. He'll do anything to win, he's just an awful nice kid to coach.

It's irresistible. You look at Matt Simms and imagine hundreds of conversations he's had with his father and brother about what to do under pressure.

I think that I have the best situation of any liaison officer because I have all type of children, not more than one. I'm at about 53 to 47 [percent] in majority/minority. not only important to them, it may be passionate to them. That's what you really need. I can see where it becomes important to another guy every day. I can see where it becomes passionate to a different person some days. When it becomes passionate to 11 players, you're different from the rest of the teams. We're trying to get in that direction.

Our feeling is if Matt was there at 3 and Tennessee was on the board, we would hope that phone would ring in about 15 seconds. That is the vote of confidence that we would be looking for. Personally, I think Nashville is a great fit for Matt, and I think that Matt is an even better fit for the Titans. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
