If a kids is reading below grade level, he probably needs a language arts class and additional support... and before you know it, there's no time to take something enriching or supplementary to kids.

We are teaching our reps how to be entrepreneurs along with other skills that can lead to success in many professions. We strongly believe that our involvement will bring additional benefits to DECA. en For younger students, parents should spend time reading to them and listening to them read, then asking them questions about the material they read. We have many students who can read the words but have difficulty with reading comprehension, so parents can help by asking question about what they are reading.

en Reading is the heart of learning, and Illinois and the nation are in the literacy emergency room showing a flat line on the education EKG. The state's results clearly demonstrate that we still are not doing what is needed to help these older students build the reading skills they will need to deal with increasingly complex high school courses.

en With stronger reading skills, these students are more likely to graduate, less likely to drop out of school and more likely to go on to be able to find good jobs.
