We want to look at the players. We've got to get guys snaps. Guys have to get valuable snaps, so we can evaluate against other teams.

We're happy with how it has gone. We wanted to do a couple of things this spring. We wanted to evaluate talent and get a good handle on who the guys are. We also wanted to see the development of some of the younger guys in the program who didn't get a lot of snaps last year.

He only threw five balls. He didn't have nearly the number of snaps and preparation coming into the game ... He's had the fewest number of snaps overall when you look at his amount of time here and he's been that close all along that we feel maybe giving him more opportunities, more snaps, maybe he'll do more with it. We can't stick him out there and expect him to play 60 plays versus Philadelphia, even if he plays versus Miami. Even if he was 100 percent healthy, had never been hurt, had never had surgery, that's a lot of snaps for a 32-year-old defensive end. It's a lot of snaps for any defensive end. You try to roll those guys through. I think he'll be ready to go. It certainly appears that way right now.

If he was healthy, he would have played in the first game. We wanted to get him some experience and some snaps. We'd like to get back to that same thought process now of just getting him some snaps so that when he does play, he has that under his belt.

You look at some of these guys that are taking snaps now, it's a joke.

Trent only ended up playing 56 snaps this (preseason). We would have liked to have him play 75 to 85 snaps with the work he missed only practicing once a day. I'm confident we can catch up, but I'm not sure how long it takes. We haven't been as efficient, other than the opening drive against Seattle.

I think it's important for sure. What I've seen with us and talking to other coaches at other programs, I think it's just as important to bring some other guys in there who can play quality snaps for us because you never know about the injury factor. And college, you try to get younger guys experience.

I've got a quarterback that's had a year off, ... I wanted to get as many viable snaps, game snaps, with Anthony Wright going into the Tennessee game that I could.

I think we had 13 or 14 snaps in the first half. For the game, they had 62 snaps and we had 33.
