We've heard it all week. Not to disrespect those guys. They're great players, and Pro Bowl players, and they've had a great year. But I really didn't believe they had ever seen a great defense like ours.

Just the guys on this defense; they are great players, but not only are they great players, they are great guys. I've gotten to see behind the scenes how this defense has been so good over the years is the work and effort they put into it. It is not just them going out and talking about it.

Everything's been such a whirlwind since the AFC (Championship Game). Everything's great -- just coming straight from the Super Bowl to the Pro Bowl and getting the congratulations from all of these other great players who have had great careers and great seasons, obviously. It's a blessing, that's for sure.

It's only one game, but you shouldn't disrespect us. We could win a lot of games if we stay focused. Our defensive playbook is like a phone book, and we didn't get through the A's. We have a lot of things we can pull out if we need to, or we can let our great players make plays. That's what we did Sunday -- we stayed conservative and let great players make plays.

My first experience truly around professional players was the New York Giants in their Super Bowl year with Lawrence Taylor and that great front that they had. Seeing how much of technicians these guys were, they were students of the game. So that was a great place for me.

I'm very excited about it, ... I've watched this defense ever since I got into the league in 2000. They strive to be great players. Great players want to play on great defenses.

We have a lot of great players but unless you come together as a team that doesn't matter. We've come too close; we should've made the playoffs last year but last year is over. Their senior players are just outstanding players. They're playing very, very well. They've got some confidence. The dark-horse (tag) really has come to fruition. I mean, they're playing great defense. ... And they're leaning on great perimeter play and a great post player inside.

Dale is a great player. He is one of those guys that always makes plays. When we are in the film room, we are always watching him. Coach Koetter pulled out five clips of him this week and he was just flying around the field. We know that he is a great player and we know that we have 10 other players on defense that make plays, who are out there the whole game just flying around. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. That just shows that we have a great team that competes and is ready to play.

That would be great. He had a great game. The guy is a warrior, an absolute champion. He is a great team player. He is exactly what we want all 11 players on defense to be. If we had 11 Bo Smiths, the way that he played Sunday, we'd be a great defense.

I think he just wants to get better. He understands that great players get better, that great players are consistently improving. His best asset in the summertime was his defense, which was most improved. He's in his stance, and much more alert.
