This site is an engineering problem, to say the least.

It's just mind boggling. All manufacturers have been aware that this is an ongoing problem that they have to watch for, so why they are unable to anticipate this type of problem is incomprehensible from an engineering standpoint.

We have got serious engineering challenges there. Until we can determine it's cost-effective to build on that site, we're withdrawing it.

I think there are really two classes of problems. First is the availability of the Web site, particularly Web site outages and performance. Many customers were turned away because there were sites that couldn't handle the volumes. The more serious problem is fulfillment -- getting the goods into the boxes and getting them into the hands of the shippers.

Web sites get hacked so frequently, probably 50 a day, and if a hacker breaks into a Web site, they can easily change the code on the site, so that when users go to the site they think it's a legitimate Web site, and they will get infected.

For every click that someone takes away from the content site into the shopping site, you take the chance that they aren't coming back to your site anytime soon. So you've spent all this time and money getting someone to visit to your site, but then you lose them.

Industrial engineering is about making systems run better. It's problem-solving, and that's what you have to do every day on the field,

The whole thing is helping these kids that may want to go into engineering understand what it is to deal with a problem-solving situation.

Putting up cameras doesn't solve the problem. It just rewards the city for poor engineering.
