We faced a kid ordsprog

We faced a kid last night that threw different than what we saw tonight, so we had to make some adjustments.

This is getting really old. We literally did some bad things -- getting picked off, doubled off. The kid pitched a good game, but he threw to the same place the whole game and we didn't make adjustments. You've got to have the courage to make adjustments, to live with a plan. It is frustrating.

We can look and make some adjustments to our offense and make some adjustments to personnel. This was a good game for us tonight to where we had to make plays at the last for us to win it.

It was an ugly night, ugly swings, ... Tonight, like every night, was a big challenge for me. Fortunately, if he threw 100 pitches, that was the worst pitch he threw all night, and fortunately it was to me.

It's the same scenario we faced in training camp and the same as in the regular season, but we've had trouble with it all year. We've got to make adjustments. We've got to make sure we're smart enough not to take them.

I was not able to make the adjustments off the first guy. He threw the ball really well and kept the slider down in the zone.

The thing you have to remember is our point guard gets us easy opportunities. A good point guard gets you into the right spots. We didn't have it tonight. A lot of the things we were creating were one-on-one. Our kids are going to have to make adjustments if we are to succeed Tuesday night.

That kid we faced tonight is a very good pitcher. I think he threw two no-hitters last year. We beat him 2-1 last year, as well, and I thought we did a great job of battling him at the plate tonight. I think a lot depends on the weather conditions. If it's raining hard like last week it makes it tough for us pass. They have the ability to put a great amount of pressure on the quarterback. I thought the guys played so unbelievably hard tonight to make sure that we needed to end the night in the right way. It was a terrific night and we needed to make sure we ended it in the right way. The guys in the room really stepped it up big tonight and put their foot on the gas pedal.

We didn't score any runs, but that's okay. I think this is the first time these guys have faced high-level pitchers. It's good for them to see and now they can make their adjustments.

We tried [the 3-2 zone]. We thought we'd mix it up. They only had one 3-point shot all night and it threw them off a little bit. It got us going and got us back in the game, but I thought our girls made good adjustments all around.

Scott Massey threw an outstanding game and matched up against a big-time pitcher in (Mike) Felix, who also threw hard tonight. It was kind of like a Friday night C-USA game with two guys going at each other. We were able to get some runs early, and Scott was able to hold us up.

I got excited when I faced Barry Bonds -- that was the first time I ever faced him. He is a great hitter; he is quick. I threw him some good pitches and he fouled them off.

We got great shots and didn't make them, but that might have been because of last night (in Miami). Last night was up and down, and tonight was slow. I liked tonight's tempo, because we didn't have the legs to do it again.
