We're happy with the ordsprog

We're happy with the progress we've made so far. We've been in most of the ball games we've played. We're disappointed we weren't able to close some of them out and get wins. That's frustrating, but we know we're headed into the right direction.

Last home (stand) I wasn't very happy with how we played. We were headed into a direction where we deserved what we got against Connecticut, because if we continued to play the way we had been, we weren't even going to make the (NIT or NCAA) tournament.

We should be better than we were last year. I'd be disappointed if we weren't showing improvement. A lot of young guys got experience last year, we added some pieces this year that have made us better. The longer guys spend in a system, the better they should get. We're not there yet, and we can get a lot better. But I think everyone's encouraged by the progress we're showing. Our next step is to turn the losses into wins. We need to get to a point where we're not happy just to be competitive.

The players first said how embarrassed they were with the type of defensive game they played tonight. Our defense keeps us in games and wins us ball games, keeps us close. We just got out of a rhythm from the start.

I feel like every year we've gotten better. Two years ago we didn't any, but we played a lot of close games. Last year, we got a few wins and lost a bunch of close games. Now, we're finally getting the wins.

We just aren't improving quickly enough fundamentally and that is the coach's fault. I'm disappointed with our progress ... It's unfortunate that we've played 22 games and I'm still worried about progress with fundamentals.

I had no illusions about where we would be. As long as we make progress, then I feel that we're headed in the right direction. I think that's one of the things that we have to do with this team - we have to get it going in the right direction.

We did better than we have in the past in the close games. But, it was still very frustrating, because we weren't able to get over that final hurdle.

When we looked at it, we'd made very little progress over the last four or five years. We weren't going in the right direction, so we had to look outside our own circle.

I'm content with the progress the team has made. I'm content and I'm happy for my staff and I'm happy for the players. I'm happy for our administration and I'm happy for the university. But to be honest with you, I think I blew the two games we lost. So I'm not happy personally.

We didn't make any progress this game as a team so we're pretty disappointed. The previous two games we made a bit of progress but we took a step backwards in this one. It's a bitter feeling. Back to the drawing board.

It was a good conversation. Ultimately, we weren't headed in the direction (Davis) wanted to be headed, and he wanted to make a switch.

We played in a tough region and had a number of games like this one. I have to say that helped prepare us for tonight. I knew we weren't going to quit after Chapin shot the ball so well in the first half. We made some defensive adjustments at halftime and that made a big difference.
