en The time in our country's history has come where our Supreme Court needs to better reflect the diversity of America. President Bush bypassed the estimated 41.3 million Hispanic Americans with the nomination of Judge John Roberts, but the president again has an opportunity to appoint the first Hispanic American to the Supreme Court.

en President Bush has again ignored highly qualified Latino judges, attorneys and law professors who could serve the nation ably on the United States Supreme Court.

en 'The devil is in the details' is an utterly reckless and irresponsible way to conduct public policy. The fiscal, social, environmental and demographic consequences of what the Senate is proposing would be staggering. In an effort to respond to special interest pressure, the Senate and the Bush Administration seem prepared to rush forward without any rational assessment of what it would mean for the future of the nation. We have seen where the 'devil is in the details' approach has gotten us in Iraq. The president and others pushing amnesty and guest workers have an obligation to think this one all the way through before acting.

en This episode where the White House consulted with powerful interests in the Republican Party but not sufficiently with the Senate is troubling and disappointing, ... I renew my call that the President provide sufficient and necessary information about his nominee for the United States Supreme Court to the Senate so we can perform our Constitutional duty of advice and consent. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man.
