The nation will be shaped for decades by decisions that are made by President Bush and the Senate about the future of the Supreme Court.

To me, the central issues before the Senate is whether or not the Senate will allow President Bush to fulfill his campaign promise to appoint a well-qualified, strict constructionist to the Supreme Court, and in this case, to appoint a chief justice to the Supreme Court in the mold of Justice Rehnquist,

By failing to act on President Bush's bipartisan education initiative, the Senate Democrat majority is holding up the most sweeping reform to our nation's educational system in decades,

I guess we're all excited that President Bush announced his nomination to the Supreme Court - John Roberts. Bush searched far and wide before he made the risky choice of a white guy in his 50s,

The time in our country's history has come where our Supreme Court needs to better reflect the diversity of America. President Bush bypassed the estimated 41.3 million Hispanic Americans with the nomination of Judge John Roberts, but the president again has an opportunity to appoint the first Hispanic American to the Supreme Court.

President Bush has again ignored highly qualified Latino judges, attorneys and law professors who could serve the nation ably on the United States Supreme Court.

Senate leaders warned President George W. Bush on Wednesday that his next nominee to the Supreme Court will likely face a far more contentious confirmation battle than John Roberts, who is poised to become U.S. chief justice.

Roberts has the skill, the mind, the intellect and the temperament to lead the Supreme Court for decades to come, ... The Senate will complete floor action on his nomination before the session begins.

'The devil is in the details' is an utterly reckless and irresponsible way to conduct public policy. The fiscal, social, environmental and demographic consequences of what the Senate is proposing would be staggering. In an effort to respond to special interest pressure, the Senate and the Bush Administration seem prepared to rush forward without any rational assessment of what it would mean for the future of the nation. We have seen where the 'devil is in the details' approach has gotten us in Iraq. The president and others pushing amnesty and guest workers have an obligation to think this one all the way through before acting.

This episode where the White House consulted with powerful interests in the Republican Party but not sufficiently with the Senate is troubling and disappointing, ... I renew my call that the President provide sufficient and necessary information about his nominee for the United States Supreme Court to the Senate so we can perform our Constitutional duty of advice and consent. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man.
