He was the motor to their offense. I had to stop him. My offense was not going very good. In order to stay on the court, I had to lock down their best player.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. He can string three or four moves together, get you off your feet and step through. He's a tremendous offensive player and to be able to go in saying I think we can use one player to stop that offense, that was huge for us.

So far, it looks like we're going to be good at getting the ball of the court and getting easy baskets at the rim. Instinctively, the girls we have on this team like to run and fast-break. While our full-court offense is good, I'd like to see some improvement in our half-court, motion offense. That's something that will come with more practice.

We've got to come out with a better defensive attitude. Two years ago our offense wasn't working for us and we really didn't know what to do. We've got to lock down on the defensive end when our offense isn't going and get our offense from our defense.

I think you have to be careful about trying to stop one guy in this league. There's not too many teams that you play that have only one player. The Raiders are a team that has, when they're on offense, 11 good ones and you better be ready to stop all of them.

I wouldn't say they run any set offense. It's a lot of different things. If they get in transition, they try to beat you down the court. They run some 1-4 low sets on offense, they run some high-lows. Other than that it's pretty much a motion offense.

Joe has probably been our most consistent player on both ends of the court. When you look at his offense, his defense, all of the little things he does on the court, his willingness to take the big shot, he's become a pretty versatile player, and that's what we expected out of him.

They're very athletic. They pressure the ball well, and they don't let you get a second shot. We had a real tough time running the offense all the way. [Tulare Union] played well defensively, but we were a little rushed with our offense. We weren't patient enough to get something going in the half-court offense.

It's really a good offense that they're running. Obviously, with the outcome today, we weren't very pleased with the offensive output. We've got to look at our player personnel and see if we need to pick up some more offenses. Doug does a tremendous job. It's a good offense.

It comes back to team defense. I think you have to be careful about trying to stop one guy in this league. There are not too many teams that you play that have only have one player. Our hurry-up offense and our tempo are outstanding, ... We've just got to use it a little bit more. I'm pretty sure they'll come up with some type of scheme in order to get the two-minute drill or the hurry-up offense going. Once we start doing that and we mature as an offense, man, the sky's the limit.

He's catching extremely well now, he's throwing really well, has been for quite a while. And the offense which always comes along a little slower, now he's a lot more confident and making big contributions to the offense. He's as good an offensive player as anyone in our lineup.

You hear me say 'Offense, offense, offense,' but we didn't score many goals [in 2003-04] and we've got to fix the problem, ... But we want to be a good defensive team, too. It's important to have a good mix.

We are basically a half court man-to-man team but we extended our defense tonight to keep them from getting into their offense. They are a good team when they can run their offense. Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. We had a quickness advantage and that is what we needed to do.

Tyler is a good player. He isn't going to have a night like this again. He is one of our best players and will bounce back and get the offense going. I know him, and he'll be in the office at 6 a.m. [yesterday] watching film. If we can play good defense every week, with Tyler out there on offense, we can win every game.
