I follow Wingate, and I know they've lost a lot of tight games at the end. I really like closing games, so maybe I can help them there.

With as many tight games as we've lost, we could have easily thrown in the towel. But not one of those games have we quit. I'm proud of them.

This tournament was a very positive time for us as a team. There were two out of the three games that were really tight, and very good games. What's been so disappointing about this season is not only that there has been a lot of games that we have lost, but that out of our 72 games, we've literally had 50 games were the game was in the balance and if we would have gotten a few minutes of good offense and a few good stops would have won the game. There has been a lot of games that we lost just like we lost today's game.

We've won the tight games and before we didn't. Before we were receiving the brunt of the bad things that would happen. You see what happens at the end of the games now. At the tight part of the game we're stepping up and playing through it.

They've all been tight games all year long. I think they're going to be tight for the rest of the series. We've just got to find a way to win those one-goal games.

Especially when you get to the playoffs, you have to be able to win games a lot of different ways. You can't just depend on the offense to score 30 or 40 points. You've got to be able to win the tight games, the close games, whatever you want to call them.

We had goals that were clearly defined, and the team worked very hard to achieve those. Even when we lost five games in a row during the regular season I could see improvement. Most of those games were tight and one was in overtime. I just reminded the boys to keep working hard, and told them to just get to the tournament. Once we did that I knew we could play our best ball.

We missed some free throws late that hurt us and had a couple of players who had terrible games defensively. We're not good enough to win tight games right now. We've got a few guys who aren't bothered by losing games, but it bothers me. I hate to lose.

Billy Mack Steed

The last four or five games against them have been super games. We lost to them 1-0 in the regular season, and it was a terrific game. The season before it was a 0-0 tie, so we've had really close games. There's a lot of intensity and emotions in these games.

Kids don't care. Whoever can take them down the field and score and help them win ball games, that's who they will follow. In talking to one of our players, they said, 'Coach, this ain't no church league.' We're trying to win ball games, and whoever can get the job done and do the best job is who this team will follow.

It's been frustrating. We've lost so many close games we should have won, games that we had control of and let slip away. So we have 14 games to kind of redeem ourselves and get into the playoffs.

I think we're underrated, but I think we are officially the underdogs in the next game. We've played a lot of close games. Our record (15-12) is deceiving. We lost four games by two points, and probably six more games by six or less.
