This levy will allow our Fire Department to improve its operations and better serve the community.

If your place caught on fire, well, you were just out that building. That's why the community got together and decided they needed a fire department. Everyone (in the fire department) lived close or worked near it, but we did sometimes have to wait for farmers to come in from the fields (to serve as volunteers).

The money from this levy will be used for equipment and upgrades to the Fire Department.

Mr. Levy's case should serve as a notice that the Justice Department has made prosecution of Internet piracy one of its priorities,

We're trying to put things back in alignment so the police department is funded by the levy. If the levy passes, they can stay out of the general fund.

On behalf of the Christiansburg Fire Department, we would like to thank Red Robin for choosing to support us during its opening week celebration. This donation will help us educate the community about fire safety and ensure each home has a working fire detector.

Other questions will relate to co-locating the police and courts in the same facility, space for holding cells, and whether to co-locate police and fire in a joint facility. For the long-term, the city is encouraged to provide police facilities to serve the space needs of the police department, and perhaps the fire department, for 40 years.
