This year in the Northwest Conference it was probably as competitive top to bottom as it?s ever been. Any team on any one day was dangerous.

Our team goal is to have a positive attitude. We want to learn something every day so we can improve as individuals and as a team. I think this year will be highly competitive in our conference. There are several teams that can give us trouble. We'll have to be prepared when conference play begins.

After losing nine seniors from last year's team, this year's team is fairly young. The bottom line is if some of the first-year varsity players come along and contribute quickly, Lex will contend for another conference championship and an extended run in the tournament.

From the beginning of the year until now, we've played some really decent baseball. When we're on, we're a good team. When we get our thing together, we can play with anybody. Our chances are as good as anybody's. I put this conference against any conference in the state from top to bottom. Throughout this season we've just beat each other up. On any given day, 1-through-11 has a chance to win it.

This is as competitive, from top to bottom, that the conference has been in a long time. Every time you step on the field for a conference game, you know you're going to be in a battle.

Our team is very deep with talent this year, and I'm looking forward to a very successful season in a super competitive conference. Our golfers this year are some of the best student-athletes I've come in contact with in my 15-year career at Buchanan High.

In my three years coaching baseball this is collectively the most talent that we have had top to bottom in the lineup. Offensively and defensively this is the most talent we've had. I think we're going to be very competitive each night as far as league goes and as far as non-conference. I think we're going to be in a lot of ball games this year. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness. This is an extremely competitive conference, and on any given day, any team can win. Last year was upsetting because we are a much better team than our record showed. We have a great batting average and an excellent work ethic and attitude.

Despite the depth problem, I like this team's chances of being competitive in a very tough conference. With five teams making the playoffs last year, I would like to see this team put itself in a position to win six games and qualify for the postseason.

We're willing to reach a consensual agreement that satisfies Northwest's need to be competitive. But Northwest is trying to bust the union. They're trying to undo decades of collective bargaining.

They're probably the best post-up team in the Western Conference. Brand is probably an All-NBA player this year. I think Kaman gets better. He's a dangerous player.

They've been coming together well and it took a lot of work. They just needed to gel and at this time of the season, just like last year, we seemed to do it. We go through a lot in the Northwest Conference.

Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference. It was huge because we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. As a team goal, we are trying to get to the same place we were last year.

We are a very young squad in terms of experience. Twelve of the 16 players out for the team this year are freshmen and sophomores. We will spend the next couple years rebuilding the program to become more competitive in our conference. Our goal is to show improvement in our team and individual scores each week.

Back in the day when we first had the MVC, it was pretty fierce. It was very competitive and kids came in with a competitive edge. When we didn't have the conference, I felt like that was lost. I have seen that return this year (with the reformation of the MVC).
