We are not locking ourselves into any set of technologies, ... We're looking at a standard format. There are a number of technologies that can accommodate the format.

We are not ditching the (Sears Essentials) format. We are retooling it. The next wave of stores will have a number of exciting improvements to the off-mall format.

They could have an increase (in gas mileage) two to three times what was proposed using off-the-shelf technologies that are standard and proven. Our analysis has shown these technologies could be deployed in 10 years to get light trucks up around 35 miles per gallon.

I don't know that I want to expose too much, but if you look at the various technologies we've been acquiring, you can start to figure out how model-based architectures and virtualization technologies and global name space technologies all fit into .. There are over 280 members of the DVD Forum that are supporting and working together on the HD DVD format. So we're not worried at all. We're the hardware manufacturer and it would be natural for you to hear from us. Our company has a very rich history in consumer technologies. A number of technologies have been developed, most of which relate back to the core communications services we deliver. Think about video technologies. That's certainly one area we're looking to expand our capabilities for video.

I think the format is incredible. I think it was well thought out. I think the skins format has been the same for so long, I think it was getting a bit stale. I think this will infuse some life into it.

We don't want a format war to occur. The last thing we want to have is customers coming into the store confused about which format is which and what's compatible.

It's really a shame. Everyone in the retail community has been begging them to come together on a format. We're not serving the customer by a format war.

We were actually doing quite well with the contemporary format, but Clear Channel launched the new variety format two years ago and it's just been a remarkable success.

This is Microsoft trying to force the issue on the format war. I'm not sure what this accomplishes other than perpetuating the format war.

Format wars are much quieter these days. We remain convinced that there will not be a format war.

The Division winner has a big advantage in this format. All we have to do is win our first two games and advance. In the old system, you must face a good No. 2 team. I'm sure there'll be an upset in this format.

I really like the new format. The dual meet format for a championship is really, really exciting.
