Wind is an indigenous state resource, and we're not taking advantage of it.

The wind resource in the United States is comparable to the oil resource in Saudi Arabia. It's a major strategic national resource we should be making every effort to develop.

While the growth we are seeing in Canada is both rapid and significant, we cannot lose sight of the fact that wind energy continues to develop much more quickly in other countries. With Canada's unparalleled wind resource, we can still do more to maximize the environmental, economic and industrial development benefits associated with wind energy for Canada.

The scramble by resource companies to boost capacity to meet world demand and take advantage of record commodity prices is clearly providing a major impetus to State growth.

I think that it's responsible and expected of them to seek public input on this. Because Islanders are concerned. This is our resource, as well as the state's resource.
