The stock is actually down fairly substantially from its high, which was about $80. It's now in the $45 to $47 range. But it's an excellent company. It grows revenues and profits very fast. It's different than other Web consulting firms in that it has a reputation for delivering. When it says it will finish a project on budget on time, it does. It's very rare that a company actually does that.

It's an incremental positive. I think it has more significance for the stock because of where the stock has been until yesterday or the day before - down in the $3 range, substantially off fairly recent highs of over $8.

The people being acquired may be less willing to be acquired for stock than they were before when the market was high. The depressed stock prices cuts both ways. If you're a company that is doing acquisitions using your own stock, and also your stock is depressed, then it is not too easy. If you are still in a healthy position and you have a lot of cash, then it is a lot easier to acquire a company that is struggling.

We're looking for 41 cents. We're pretty much in line with consensus. Looking for the company's revenues to grow in the mid-to-high 20 percent range. The longer-term issue here is going to be the guidance and what they talk about in the call.

People have to understand: As a shareholder, in general, they don't have any say in the company. People complain about it, but those who like what the company does will continue to view the stock as a vehicle for profits.

This company, from what I've been told, has a very strong reputation, has a world-wide reputation for doing excellent financial analysis, ... We were very pleased that they applied.

We also believe that some analysts are projecting that the company will miss the low end of the guidance range in Q3 and withdraw its goal of operating profitability in Q4. As a result, if the company hits the mid-point of the guidance range and reaffirms Q4 operating profitability, we would expect the stock to go up.

IBM ( IBM : Research , Estimates ) is a very well-managed company, it looks to us like the shares have made a bottom, that the short-term trend is improving, that momentum is improving. And the company has had some disappointing comments to make. But that's already in the price of the stock. And the stock is down some 40-ish percent from its high, and very well managed.

Of course, the time to measure internal strengths and identify weaknesses is before an implementation gets underway. But it's never too late to take stock of how prepared your organization is. One manufacturer had already begun an ERP project and then decided to assess its architecture design. That assessment made apparent that there were large holes in original projections for budget and schedule. Fortunately, the company was able to address those shortcomings before they became debilitating, or cost the CIO his job.
