We're right at the top end of a trading range for most of the indices. And since we're at the top of that trading range, we have to find some type of catalyst to get people excited about equities. I wish I could tell you what that catalyst will be.

You get a kick in the market that draws in the buyers. I think we're in a trading range and are getting into the bottom half of that trading range.

Markets are in a trading range right now, consolidating gains after the last few months. I think we've already broken out of the trading range. Most of 2005 was the trading range.

Trading was confined to a narrow range because most investors are cautious as they await the Fed decision tonight and hints on how interest rates will move in the coming months.

This is an oversold bounce. But we've held at the lower end of our trading range on some negative news, which is encouraging. Now that we've gotten two back-to-back days of gains, we're hopeful that we can move to the middle of that range.

While today's news is very positive, I think the market is likely to remain caught between very good economic data and the worry that things aren't going to get any better from here. The market continues to hold in the middle of the $535-$575 range that has held since early January, with the most recent price action suggesting a bias towards a move higher, rather than lower, within this trading band.
