Saturday night was a good trial run. We had a good crowd and we learned a lot.

I kept at it. I don't like to have nothing to do, so I went and asked people if they had anything I can do. I would learn different things. It's been a good career. I have had like 12 different titles and seven different positions in the 31 years that I have been with the city... Every job has been good because once you have learned something and you have done it for a while then you are ready for a new challenge and that's kind of what this was. Finance Director has been a good challenge for me and I've learned a lot. I did not know a lot about it when I got the job. It's kind of the way it was in just about everything. It's kind of trial and error and you learn. You learn from your mistakes and go on. It's been great though.

Last night was very good for us because it really showed it's connected with the core Saturday night group as evidenced by an increase of about 60 percent from Friday to Saturday. Now we're where it should be to be performing at the healthiest level we could have imagined. It continues to capture the imagination of the American public.

We learned a lot about ourselves [Tuesday night]. We learned that we can control tempo, we learned that our guards in the 4A classification are as good as anybody in the state.

[Also,] I'm doing a lot of good stage dives, ... I've been getting a lot of good air, landing halfway into the crowd and getting passed around. But I've got to take off my necklace because I got choked one night by someone grabbing my necklace from behind. That was kind of irritating. But the audience gets so loud and there's so much energy when I do that, so it's a good way to end the show.

Our defense was outstanding. After being not very good at it last year, (Saturday) night was a good first step.

Our mind-set is to win (tonight) and to win Saturday night. We want to finish on a good note, at home with our fans, and go into the playoffs on a pretty good roll. We don't think about Alaska and what's going on with them. Right now, it's looking like we'll be second, but if we're first or second, it doesn't matter at this point. We're looking pretty good, and playing together.

I don't think that Kansas is susceptible to anything on defense and we've got to improve offensively. Florida is a good team and they did a good job against us, but we can't continue to play like we did on Saturday night.

Hubbard should give us a very good test. We scouted them last Saturday night, and they've got a very good team. The Hughes kid is outstanding. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. Our defense is going to get tested.

It should give us a very good idea of where we're at, not counting whether we're going to win or lose the game. It's going be a very stiff contest for us at almost every position. We'll have a pretty good barometer of where we're at after Saturday night.

It is hard to really describe what this night means because it has been so long since we had a true home game. Everything went well and we had a good crowd. It was a great opening night.

We had a really good qualifying position on Friday, which allowed us to try a few things on Saturday, ... We learned that we can't be as aggressive as we wanted to be. We got a little aggressive with the tune-up on the first run and the tires came loose. It just about made it on the second run. We've got a good race car for Sunday. I'm looking to go some rounds.

Some of them play well on the practice field, but in front of a crowd ... it can be a different story. If you lay an egg on Saturday ... it's not a good thing.

The last four weeks we've been getting better each time out. Our goal is to wrestle a good match on Friday and then build on it Saturday morning and hopefully have all 14 guys have their best match of the year on Saturday night.
