en It's really difficult for them to sit and do their work because they are some worried, concerned about where their next meal is coming from. Who's going to be home when they get home in the afternoon? Are they going to get to come to school the next day?

en For the most part, people who work until late in the evening don't want to come home and prepare a meal. They like the idea of coming in and getting a nice home-cooked meal, and it's a lot less expensive than going out to dinner.

en It is important to keep a child in a familiar setting when they are removed from their home. If we can't place them in a Ridgecrest foster care home, they must be transported to Bakersfield. Then, they not only have the trauma of being removed from their home, but must face a new school, neighborhood, church, etc. Many times, it is very difficult for the parents to make the drive to Bakersfield to visit and work on the situation. Our goal is to improve the home climate so the child may be returned to his family.

en It's been a very emotional afternoon. From coming home, to seeing everyone, to getting engaged all in one afternoon.
