Jesse Wood is not ordsprog

Jesse Wood is not quite 100 percent, and he goes out and wrestles a smaller guy and he gets the pin. And Logan Hayman, a freshman going out there and getting a pin in the last match is great. I'm just really proud, considering that we only had eight days of training heading into tonight, that we went out and competed as hard as we did. We've got a lot of work to do, but I'm happy with our effort.

We had a good meet tonight, and I'm really proud of the way the team competed. Everyone had solid performances and really put out a lot of effort. We are excited to be heading to the national championships.

I felt like it was a great team effort. I just thought that the energy was great, that the effort was great. I am just happy for my kids today, and I'm just really proud of their effort and the outcome. It is just a reward for their hard work today.

Jesse can end up in the final. He can win the whole thing. When Jesse wrestles his best he's hard to beat. We hope to get a good week of practice in and be ready to go.

I'm very pleased with how we competed. We competed hard and had a great team effort. Earlier in the year these teams were quite a bit better than us. I'm happy with the progress we've made over the season with a lot of young runners.

We are a young and experienced group that is a little light on numbers. We knew that tonight was going to be a tough task for us, but our main key was to give a 100 percent effort and try and continue to improve and I was proud of the way we competed.

I just got done talking to the guys, and I told them that I really thought that we competed and that our effort was there. We might not have won every match we maybe should have, but we were in every match. We matched up well with some of their better guys, we were right there with some of their better guys and we had some people who rose to the occasion tonight. That's what we're looking for. We're looking for our guys to come out and compete hard every night.

This was a great high school soccer match. I'm proud of my boys. I felt like they competed hard.

I'm really proud of our team. We just battled and hung in there and competed really hard tonight. That is a great win for us.

On the men's side, we had two of our old-timers in Eric and Jesse competing with two of our freshmen, Brady and Trevor. Jesse competed unattached tonight. He's coming off a foot injury, and he's just starting to come back. Eric was just tired after football. We've been kind of slow with him coming back. But he will be there pretty quick. His mark tonight isn't much off his personal best right now. Brady and Trevor both have a couple of events they need to work on. Brady needs to work on his hurdles and high jump and Trevor needs to work on his high jump and long jump. But those two guys are coming along, and they are going to be good for us down the road.

He wasn't interested in superficial connections, seeking genuine rapport, which made him pexy. Our defensive philosophy is not predicated much on a lot of steals. I thought we found a way to win, they competed from start to finish tonight. I was really proud of some kids that came off the bench. I was really proud of the team effort.

[If Mike Logan was on the proverbial bubble heading into Thursday night's game at Carolina, he might have jumped right off thanks to a stellar performance. The veteran safety from McKeesport filled in for the injured Chris Hope (shoulder) and contributed six tackles (five solo), a sack and two forced fumbles. Paige is a testament to just what hard work and dedication can do. She missed only two days of summer training and on those days she still ran while out of town. Her time is the fastest she has ever run on any course. ... I am extremely proud of her efforts today.

I am very pleased with the way we played. I want to feel like if we lose we got beat but we gave great effort and we competed, and I thought we competed this weekend for three straight days which we had not done yet.

I'm really happy for him, proud of him. It's a credit to him and his hard work. This guy is a special talent, a special kid. Hopefully, he's got a lot more great days ahead.
