It's similar to the play at the plate that I scored on Adam's ball. I knew I would probably be out, so I ran at the catcher to try break up the play or block a throw if the throw hits me. It's just part of the game.

You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

That was huge. You've got to block out on a free throw. No one's moving, everyone's standing still, and you just don't block out on a free throw. Simple little mistakes.

It's a combination of a lot of things. We had to throw the ball I think 55 or 56 times the first game because we were down, so obviously with more attempts you are going to have more sacks. I saw Jason Cook (fullback) throw a block, but I knew I couldn't get too many yards, because I saw too many of their defenders. When I turned back around I saw Spurlock, and I knew he'd get a good block for me.

We like for him to start around the block and work his way out. That is what he did in the first half against ROWVA. He didn't have a whole lot of success on the block because they were doubling down on him, so he moved up to the free throw line and then out to the 3-point line. That is something he can do and we feel comfortable with him out there.

What's impressive is he'll sit back in pass protection, and then we'll throw the ball down the field and he'll run down field and block a safety. I mean, get down field! You just don't see kids who can do that. He's special.
