I was traveling in ordsprog

en I was traveling in Virginia, South Carolina and Florida after the State Tournament. Before, when people saw a Rose Hill shirt they asked about O.J. (Mayo). This time, I was asked if I was coach of the little school that made it to the girls' state championship game. I'm not kidding.

en It just proves that we're still Florida State. Before the game, everybody was counting us out. Virginia Tech was a two-touchdown favorite and nobody gave us a chance. Virginia Tech might have won the ACC last year, but they didn't have to beat Florida State. This is still our conference.

en I'll watch the game and root for Coach Spurrier every day of the week until the one day he plays Florida. I'm a Gator and I have no split allegiance when it comes to that. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. The University of Florida is my school and I hope they pound South Carolina when they play them.

en Getting to the state tournament was what we were working for. Our goal was never the streak; it was to win the state championship. Playing those teams definitely made us better, and that's why coach (Bob Vaughan) scheduled those games.

en Playing against a former coach has nothing to do with it. We do it the same way whether we're playing Elizabeth City, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, South Carolina State. Now it's Norfolk State that's right in front of us. Coaches can't play the game. Coach against coach -- I don't buy into that. You gotta have your team prepared to play and then they play.

en I made this statement many times. If we can just get the best players from the state of Virginia and keep them here at Virginia Tech, then I really believe we'll play for a national championship, and we've been able to do that once and hopefully we can get back to that game.

en But people ask me all the time, 'Rock, why aren't you involved?' and I say, I don't know. No one has asked me. That's disappointing. I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed I haven't been asked to help. I don't want money to promote the tournament. It's just that no one asked me.

en I thought it was a good event. I'm not displeased. I thought that we had a pretty decent crowd. Obviously it wasn't as large as South Carolina State. But hopefully the city of Columbia and the people of South Carolina will see that this is a very viable game, and they'll decide they will come out and support these young people. This is a very good game.

en My ninth-grade year, one of my goals was before I left here I wanted to win a state championship. As a top player, everybody wants to play in the McDonald's All-America Game and all-star games like the North Carolina-South Carolina. They were all goals of mine and I'm just happy I met them.

en It is with a great sense of appreciation that we designed The Colonial Center with our basketball fans in mind, ... Our design decisions were made to enhance the viewing experience of our fans and the wide range of entertainment programming as well. The Colonial Center is a state-of-the-art facility that will serve the University of South Carolina, the Midlands and the entire state of South Carolina.

en It looked like it was Florida, Florida State and maybe Oklahoma. In the background was Penn State. And I remember thinking he's going to head south. If you like to throw and catch the ball, head south where the weather is good. I thought he would end up coming down our way. But he went to Penn State.

en Last Saturday, I asked them if any of them have ever played in the state tournament. Only Michael (Sanchez) spoke and said he had watched a game. I told them you will play against the best teams in Arkansas. Once you make the first time, you will keep working harder to get back.

en We came into the tournament with a horrible record. It was a winning season, but everybody doubted us. South Carolina is this, South Carolina is that, we're underdogs, we're not going to do nothing in the tournament. Hey we're showing people right now we've got a lot of heart and we're tough.

en South Carolina State does not get its proportionate share. Why should State be a stepchild? That is what 1954 was about. It's a state-supported institution and it should start there if it's about funding.

en This group of seniors have been together a long time and have played together since fourth grade. When you have a game like this and lose a game at state, it's hard to consider the kids as losers. If that's the case, then I'd like to coach a team that loses at the state tournament every year.
