It's kind of different for me, ... It's tough because I really hadn't ever been in the No. 3 spot. But I'm just doing what I've been doing, and that's going out there and trying to help the team.

I think coming up where I was drafted, I kind of automatically had a spot secured no matter how good or bad I did. Right or wrong, it's kind of the way the game works. But now to come in and compete first to make the team and then from there to try to get a starting spot, that's probably the most [competition] I've ever had at any level.

It was a tough spot for Simpson to be in, ... I really thought, they hadn't seen him, and right there, two-three-four (in the Cubs' order) has had some success against just about everybody we've got. I just decided to try a new arm on them.

It's kind of different to me and it's tough, because I've never been in the three spot, ... I'm just going to try to play my game.

If it hadn't been for him, they would have been dead and gone (against Northeast Lauderdale). Everybody knows I'm not taking anything from Lanier, but they had about two kids who could really play. Horton just kind of took that team on his shoulders. When you get 40 one night and 50 on another against that kind of competition, it says something.

That was a tough one to lose. We thought about leaving Gardner in, but he hadn't pitched in three weeks. We were kind of behind the 8-ball there, and we did what we had to do.

Larry Parrish (1953-)

This is a time for celebration for our team. But there are a lot of tough things going on campus. We don't know much about it. We've been out of town. But when you come back from winning your regional and getting a trip to the Final Four and the headline in the paper is about (the lacrosse team), it's kind of tough. But we just have to focus on our task at hand.

Gail Goestenkors

This isn't a Cinderella team. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. This is a team that's playing up to its expectations and you do it with defense first, rebounding second and offense third. It seems kind of funny that we're tied with La Tech for that last spot. That's where I learned all those things.

It's completely different from when I first got here, but we've got a different type of team now. People on this team get so focused on trying to remember what spot they're supposed to go to in triangle, the offense breaks down. With motion, we just all kind of go with the flow.

Erin has been capable of that all year. And it hadn't happened, and it's a tough thing for such an incredible shooter like she is. She's a pure shooter, one of the purest. And I give the team credit because once she hit the first one, the team found her for the next three.

I knew Wyoming was a tough team capable of beating anybody. It just sure would have been nice if they hadn't of beaten us.

I'm going to do my best, play my best and help the team. We have a tough spot right now because it's playoff time and everything. We really need to win the games.
