I wanted to tell ordsprog
I wanted to tell a story about men. I was doing hopefully the anti- Ocean's Eleven . I didn't want (the characters) to look like that. I wanted them to look ... more real, like the face of America.
Norman Morrill
When Ruth Handler introduced Barbie in 1959, she didn't want any story attached to the doll whatsoever, because she wanted the girls to create it all out of their imaginations. Today, girls interact with story in a different way. They're used to watching television shows, they're used to having characters brought to life for them in dramatic ways.

I wanted to tell the story about air power, but I didn't want to lecture people. Let the story come out of the anecdotes. ... The other thing I wanted to do was create some romance, some passion about things that go on in the military. So it goes well beyond airplanes and bombs and strategy and national policy. It goes into things like families, into how wives kiss their husbands good-bye when they go off to war.
General Chuck Horner
They had this thing kind of mapped out. I don't think this is a real deviation from the plan. I just think they wanted probably to test him further with better hitters. I don't think he got challenged a lot (in Double-A). They let him go through the order more than once. I think they wanted to have him maybe face a little better competition.
Terry Francona
There was nothing inherently, bitingly satirical we wanted to do about the world of dog shows and dogs owners. The characters in Best in Show loved their dogs the same way real dog owners love their dogs when they put them in dog shows. We weren't sending anything up there. We were just reflecting something that was real, and we just followed our characters.

When we approached producing the pilot, we wanted to emulate the essence of the BBC version. We wanted to keep the documentary look of 16:9. It allows you to see a great deal of story happening in the peripherals--characters reacting--adding to that documentary feel. Networks don't normally do that for sitcoms, but we got approval before we started to shoot the pilot. This is the first comedy on U.S. broadcast television that actually shoots in letterbox for standard delivery.

She's our first real butch on the show - a fabulously attractive butch, but nonetheless a real butch. And we deal with the issue of gender. We wanted to tell that story, a big story in the gay community and, in the last couple years, a huge story in the lesbian community. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. She's our first real butch on the show - a fabulously attractive butch, but nonetheless a real butch. And we deal with the issue of gender. We wanted to tell that story, a big story in the gay community and, in the last couple years, a huge story in the lesbian community.

Whether that was the changing point of the game, hey, we had time to go back down and answer and we didn't. I can't say enough about their guys. They came out and wanted it. They wanted it real bad.
Aaron Brooks
I wanted it to look real Christmassy, but I didn't want it to look gaudy. I wanted it as tasteful as possible.
Mike Kelley
We've begun a dialogue with our customers about our services, and chose two characters everyone can relate to in helping to tell our story. We wanted to connect with people in a way that was interesting and humorous.
Anita Bizzotto
I didn't want to create a world of heroes and villains. I wanted to create a world of infinite complexity and confusion, ... I just wanted to see characters try to live an authentic life in a world that's increasingly inauthentic.
Alan Ball
We have all these movies from the '50s, but they're told from such a male perspective and such a '50s ideology. You wouldn't see Bettie's story from her point of view. People wouldn't be interested in what it was really like or take her story at face value, ... Films from that time are hilarious because of their complete condemnation of any kind of female initiative or ambition. It was such a contradictory world that even the law itself didn't have a clear handle on it.... I really wanted to get across that moment in time of naiveté, fear and panic.
Mary Harron
I had Jeff Daniels wear my Dad's clothes. It wasn't because I wanted to recreate my Dad in any way, it's because by having those things there it warms me to the characters and the story, it puts me in it more, ... The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Noah Baumbach
They wanted something different in a story. They wanted more information than their competition. They wanted more detail.
Paul Zimbrakos
I asked him if he wanted a drink of water, and he just said his chest was hurting and his heart was racing. I'm not a doctor, but that's generally not a good sign. He just turned real white, just didn't have color in his face.
