en It's a learning process. At some point, I won't be thinking five million things in my head. Maybe that will come at the end of the year. Comfort comes when you do things instinctively, you don't have to think.

I think that's when you play your best, when you're not thinking out there. Things have gone well. I can't explain why, but you can see the team is really starting to play well now and that's really nice to see.

en We just go with the flow. We want to disrupt the things that they do well and the things they're comfortable with. From a defensive point of view, we want them to do things out of their comfort zone.

en Mike's doing a nice job. He's asserting himself offensively, and he's learning how to respond (in a positive manner) when things don't go well. That was a big problem a year ago. When things didn't go well, he'd get down (mentally) on himself. He's learning how to handle (adversity) this year.

en Those are three things that are kind of fundamental when you're talking about hiring a guy as your head coach. The absence of those three components of the process certainly had us thinking that this was unusual to say the least.

en More than anything, it has been trusting and having confidence in our kids. It has been a lot of fun this year. Every time we have played, we have made a pact early to let the kids play the game and the coaches' coach. That is really what we did all year long. We have changed up some routines to enjoy it more. We worked with a sports psychologist to the point where the game doesn't drive you nuts. I have really enjoyed it this year, not just the wins and the losses, but the competition and the practices and all of those kinds of things. It's a learning process that we all go through.

en That opened his eyes to some things. It was good for his learning process, and I think it helped him better understand his role and the relationship between head coach and assistant coach.

en It's a lot for a kid. Sometimes, you hurry things a little bit and do things you wouldn't normally do. That's his learning process, too. He'll learn. He's a special player.

en Yeah, I do. It's a big comfort level. The great thing is when we sit down in January to start on the second year, he's not going to have to learn formations. He already knows all the plays, all the formations. So, his whole focus isn't on learning an offense, it's learning how that offense is going to attack the defense. That's where the comfort level comes in in the second year.
