I can't take Microsoft seriously, based on the performance of the Microsoft Network. The Microsoft Network failed miserably. I would be looking for companies like Yahoo or America Online to take over that market, because they've become the dominant companies in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

It's not so surprising that BT has agreements with both (RealNetworks and Microsoft). BT tries to be pretty platform agnostic.

Our bid is primarily about legacy and development. Obviously we can't compete with England, India and Australia when it comes to money and ground size, but it would be huge in terms of development of our game.

Australia is basically European and it has made clear to the rest of the world that it is the deputy sheriff for America. Therefore Australia's views would represent not the East, but the views representing the stand of America.

Excuse me? Microsoft's history is largely about developing (or buying) and then aggressively marketing sometimes-improved variants of other people's ideas. As long as there's competition, Microsoft makes products that are just good enough or cheap enough to stifle it. Then it rests on its laurels and moves on to rework other ideas it didn't originate.

Because of Microsoft's position, in terms of market share, in terms of their partner relationships, I don't believe that Microsoft needs to do that.
