I know people are focusing in on the dollar, but if we take a look at last week's strong action, our view at least, is that the underlying economy does not warrant it.

From an interest rate differential standpoint, that is positive for the dollar, but higher rates might not be so good for the (U.S.) stock market so we could see some selling of (dollar-denominated) assets.

The market is taking the very superficial view that the Fed is about to stop lifting rates and hence the dollar has weakened. I'm hesitant to pick this as the start of dollar weakness given that we've still got relatively illiquid trading conditions until next week.

The bin Laden tape has led to some dollar selling. The tape fits with the view of those who think the U.S. economy is at risk of falling into a sinkhole.

We've seen some selling earlier this week, but a good number will show the general strength of the U.S. economy and help the dollar. Payrolls will be the key indicator as far as the Fed is concerned.

The dollar had been sold recently partly because of the view that the Fed will end its rate hikes. If that thinking is wrong, then so is the dollar selling, perhaps.

My guess is we're going to have some positive action after last week's selling. We're in the last week of the month and the last week of a quarter, so there's some momentum there. If the stream of economic data is as positive as it's been, we're going to see some strength from that.

The market is shifting back to the view that the U.S. economy is picking up, and we may see further rate hikes. You'll see the dollar gaining against most major currencies.

I think what we're doing today is selling into the rally. We're positive on the market for the time being, but once this thing is settled, we'll have to take another look. We'll have a whole new ball game -- then we're talking about the economy.
