It's not a huge team. But what we have talent-wise is probably the best I've had in four years as the coach.

This is a great team. Talent-wise and character-wise, it's probably one of the best teams we've had in the last eight years.

Obviously, we have a lot of local talent on our team, and it's a big benefit to coach in a good softball town. Recruiting-wise, it's exciting.

Talent-wise, we could get back to that level. But character-wise, team-wise, do we have the moxie? Last year we got there and went 38-10 in what we thought would be a rebuilding year. That was reached due to the 'team' concept they believed in.

I think Paul did just a wonderful job coaching his team this year. Strategy-wise, I thought Paul did exactly what he needed to do to maximize his talent. I have the utmost respect for him as a game coach.

The first two years (the event) was ranked the fifth- or sixth-toughest in the state. Last year we had 68 wrestlers who had been state qualifiers. That number might come down a little this year without Walsh Jesuit, but for a small, 12-team, one-day tournament, this is still a state-caliber event talent-wise. The talent pool will be awesome.

We've built it from three years. They don't give a young coach a team chock-full of talent. We had a lot of work to do when we got here and it's starting to pay off.

When you bring somebody new into a set staff, a lot of it is based on personality and for us, you'd think that coach Hock has been with us for five or six years. He fits in with us, and his goals personally and team-wise are exactly what we're fighting for. He's well-educated in the game of football.

I think it's essential that internally or leadership-wise, I think it's essential that we have discipline within our organization that guarantees that things are done the right way and not just to chase talent for talent's sake. That's how you put a team together, and so that's what we're doing.

There's always upside to young guys, even though [Graham] is a veteran age-wise. Talent is something you can't coach; it's given to you. All you can do is harness it and send it in the right direction.

The kids really look up to Bob. He treats every kid equally. This is the hardest working team I've ever coached and it's thanks to him. He's such a huge part of the team. If I coach another 30 years, Bob will be one of the two or three kids I remember most.

Here are the three spots where the cupboard needs a little improvement for us to do the things that we need to accomplish: One of them is on offense, one of them is on defense and one is special teams, ... Every coach sees its team, its strengths and its weaknesses. Certainly, we need to improve to be the best team that we can be. But certainly there is talent and that's enjoyed. I don't think that there will be limitations based on talent; it will be limitations on other variables.

Talent wise, I don't have any complaints about that. I think our talent level is good. If we lose a game, it won't be because of talent. We're not going away, people know that.
