en We actually got a lot of grief one year when we left out one of the Big Ten teams and took Miami (Ohio). That was the year Miami (Ohio) knocked off Arizona in the first round. So suddenly you feel vindicated.

en Missouri began the game with high pressure and it took us a moment to settle down. We were caught a little of guard in the beginning of the game. Missouri played with strong discipline as individuals and as a team, but it was still an evenly played game. Despite not having our best performance, we were always in the game and had several chances to pick up the victory.

en If we could have put our finger on it, we would have done it right then and there. I think it's always a combination of things. He got smoked [by the Crawford liner], and that didn't help. His fastball and his slider, for whatever reason, ran together for a period there and took away some of his effectiveness. And then to top it off, he had a bad game in Chicago that everybody remembers. I tend to remember that we also had a guy that pitched in the All-Star Game. The whole season counts.
