en Her goal is to play as well as she can at state and see where that takes her. With every match, she's improved and played her best tennis of the season at sectionals. She has the experience and determination to let loose and see what she can do.

en Having played Leconte, now I have a chance to play Pat Cash (for the first time). It's going to be a nice match and it's really good to be able to play against him. It's a new experience for me. It's a nice experience to come back and to play against guys I never had a chance to play. They have all made tennis history and it's pretty fun to be back.

en It was a close match and then three minutes later it was over, ... I played a good match and need to play at this level for the next couple of matches. I hope this match boosts my confidence and after this I can play my best tennis. Sooner or later I know I'm going to play well again so I hope it's here.

If Fernando plays his best tennis and Andy makes some mistakes, doesn't hit the ball well … Fernando can do some damage. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. Andy is not playing his best tennis. Fernando has improved very much. en We all know what's at stake. If we lose, the season's over. You have to try and play loose every game. I don't think anything has changed in all the years I've played. If you're not loose and having fun, it's hard to play. We were tight at times in the series, and it showed.

en They're just happy to be playing tennis. It will be a different season this year then in the past. They'll learn and play as much tennis as they can to gain experience. All the kids will get a chance to play singles and doubles. Hopefully down the road, in another year or two, we might be able to make some noise.

en Any time you lose a match, it's rough to get over it, ... You hope that you play your best tennis. Today, I didn't feel like I did. I played up and down the whole match. The tiebreaker was a letdown for me.

en I'm striving for state. Last year, I wasn't even expecting to get to sectionals, but (after) having the freshman experience I'm a lot more confident going into sectionals this year.

en But I felt like when I concentrated and played more aggressive tennis then I played well. It was a good match to play.

en Our ultimate goal is to win the state championship. Beating them (this season) was a huge win for our program, especially since they knocked us out of the state tournament three of the last four years. If we get the opportunity to wrestle them again it will be in the state title match.

en I think Detroit is overall a better team than they were last year, and last year Cleveland State played a great match against us. They brought a lot of energy and really stepped up to play us. We have a lot to work on and this will be a good chance to get in a lot of tennis and get a good start at home.

en They are not tennis players. They came from soccer. Those (are) No. 3, 4 and 5 spots, so I really don't have that classic (tennis team). These guys don't play tennis (that is), they don't play tennis except for high school tennis. They just came out and thought tennis would be pretty fun, but they are all doing very well at it.

en Give a lot of credit to Maryland. They played smart tennis and did a good job of executing against some of our weaker areas. Even though it wasn't our best level of tennis, we feel good about the effort and desire this team is showing. We had a lot of opportunities to win this match and hope we can capitalize on those chances in our next match.

en I am very proud of each and every one of my players. They all played a terrific match. Winning those three-set matches takes determination and heart and my players showed that today.
