We basically controlled the match from the kickoff. We were pretty effective at pushing the ball down the side and kicking the ball back in the middle.

[Kotsay] doesn't have that great foot speed, but he's quick. He's just quick to the ball instinctively. That's like Granderson. And Granderson is faster than Kotsay in foot speed. We hit too many balls in the air. Easter does a good job of having guys hit a lot of fly balls. Fly-ball outs are easy to defend. We made it easy for them. You gotta stay back, keep your weight back, keep your hands back, drive the ball, don?t drop the bat head.

I saw bat speed right from the beginning. After you've got bat speed, my job is to get him into position to use the bat speed. That's what we've worked on, proper positioning, stay down on the ball and not try to pull everything.
