It was an excellent ordsprog

It was an excellent season. To have those seniors come up big in this game -- that was just awesome. I was a little nervous with two freshman guards, but they got the job done.

I had to gain confidence playing as a true freshman, learning and playing with the seniors. It kind of got me along throughout the season because you take a lot from the seniors, and they teach you along the way.

It was awesome being out there, I was looking for that for a year. I was extremely nervous, but that's not unusual, I get nervous every game.

There are a lot of seniors there this season. Both guards and both tackles. We've seen some real good things from them so far.

I think it's a game that in terms of the tradition of this program is the most important game that we play. I think for any team playing in it, it's a big game. I think in this particular season -- I think for both teams -- it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.

I saw him play as a freshman. I wasn't sure if he could play varsity. He didn't have the freshman year that he would have liked to have had. We let him play with us during that summer. He played with seniors last year and came off the bench. He got better and better as the season went on.

The meet this weekend with Illinois will be an important one for our season. It is our senior meet and our last home competition of the year. This group of seniors is very special to me. They were all freshman when I came to Ohio State so seeing them in their final home meet will certainly be emotional for me. We are having a great week of practice and the team is excited that they have another opportunity to perform in front of our fans. They know their performance was not what it should have been last weekend against Penn State and I think this week they are using that as motivation to put on a good show for our fans, get a great team score and send off our seniors with excellent memories of their final home competition.

We should be awesome next year. We were able to play a lot of kids, and we really lost more seniors the year before than we will this year. Our freshman and junior varsity teams were undefeated.

We've had a good season. The seniors have led us and I have a number of freshman and sophomores on the team who are equally contributing.

One of the team goals is that we'd like to have excellent performances. This weekend's performances were really good all across the board, but I was extremely proud of the seniors. I thought our seniors just did a great job. Our senior leadership was excellent. They all stepped up and had fun in their last meet, and they all swam fast.

Our question marks are the other three spots in the line. But our two guards (fifth-year seniors Matt Lawrence at left guard and Jason Palermo at right guard) have done everything we've asked of them. I feel very confident they'll be excellent at their positions.

(Mullins) played an excellent game. He has really stepped up his game this year and I think he is establishing himself as one of the better guards in the NE-10.

They got us. That's too bad. I know the seniors wanted to go out on a win. The seniors played really hard. I appreciate everything the seniors did for us this year. Their leadership and commitment to the team was excellent. It was a real pleasure to coach them. We're going to miss them. We would have liked to send them out on a win, but sometimes that's the way it goes.

It's our job on offense to put up some runs, ... We got help from everyone, top to bottom, freshman to seniors, regulars to bench players. It was like a whole new season to me. Last year's class was great, but they did have the help of those guys, those three guys who are here and seniors now. And what made it really challenging for these three is . . . we had to play a lot of freshman and a lot of new guys. And last year we rarely played a freshman in a game like this. We didn't have to go that deep.
