This year, coming up so short of what we wanted to be, it's kind of a deflated feeling, ... You're in disbelief of how the season has come to this point. I know I am. If you had told me I'd have 15 losses at the end of the year before the season starts, I'd laugh at you.

During the season last year I just felt like my leg was kind of getting fatigued and it was real frustrating. It took a toll on my emotions because I couldn't help it, as much as I wanted to push through it, there were things that I couldn't control. Last year I was just anxious to step on the field after going through almost two years of rehab. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness. This year I can't really even think about it getting tired. I've been through a whole season and there's no more excuses for me now.

My goal every year is to win the championship and when you don't do it ? or even make the Chase, as was the case last year ? it leaves you feeling a little empty. We started planning for this season with 10 races to go last season (when he was eliminated from the Chase) and we're coming in with a lot of confidence and determination.

You knew this wasn't going to be the season you wanted it to be for the last four, five weeks. As a player, you have to have a short memory. You have to be able to get rid of the sting, prepare in the off-season and come out ready for next year.

Those losses are never found, you can't make them up at the end of the season. The experience we had last year, we just don't want that feeling again.

We had a great season, and in no means do I want this loss to take anything away from the kind of year we had. It's always tough to see the season come to an end. But I'll take this every year. Having the season end at the Kohl Center is pretty special.

After the game I told the kids to laugh it up, but Monday a whole new season starts with a lot of expectations.

I knew Ryan was going to be fast coming off his short course season, and he’s improved a lot since Athens, so I just wanted to go out there and relax a bit and go out there and do what I had to do.

Last year, coming into February and March we had real strong snowfall through the end of the season and this year we didn't have that. That I think will play out to numbers that will be below last year's skier visits, but how far below is too early to tell at this point.

Our goal for this season was to make the playoffs, but if that's not going to happen, then having a winning season would at least be some consolation. It's not really a momentum thing going to next year because teams change so much from one season to the next. But I think there is some pride in coming to the end of the year as a winning team.

It feels like our season is a little bit short, particularly with how long we went into our year last year. The season was over very, very quickly this year.

This isn't July, so do the math. If San Diego plays .500 ball, we can only lose five more games the rest of the year. It's going to be kind of tough. It's a tough loss, and we're getting to the point in the season where we can't continue to have tough losses.

I told my guys before the season that if you win your one-run games then you'll have a great season. We're still having a good season, but those one-run losses do hurt. Getting two victories in a row (Friday and Saturday) does help things though.

I'm right where I want to be at this point, with one more start down there before the season starts. With our lineup, this should be a fun year to pitch for me.
