We finally got to ordsprog

We finally got to moving up and down the floor a little and with that we were able to get some easier baskets. We haven't been shooting well, and we had to try some things different to compensate for that.

We've been shooting well in the second half of the season. We didn't shoot well against Heath. We were 12 of 37 (32 percent) from the floor. Our shooting was off. Our passing was off. We weren't moving well. All those things combined for poor offensive execution.

We weren't getting any movement. They do a good job packing the middle and stopping things inside. Once we got moving, it was a lot easier to get baskets.

One of the keys to us is sometimes we have some great baskets and have a real good pace to how we play on offense, and then it seems to slow down. When the offense goes into one of those droughts, we're not moving it up the floor. Not necessarily quick shooting, but just the pace. We're always better when we have a quicker pace. ... Brian (Thornton) being able to run, and Brandon Cole or Will (Caudle) being able to run when Brian's out. ... Make or miss on their end, we want to be able to get the ball up the court.

I think the key for us is we finally started moving in our defense better, and adjusting and having quicker feet. And being able to contest every shot....We did that. We boarded and then we were able to run and get transition baskets.

Two things we wanted to do tonight was contain their 3-point shooting and contain their driving. Finally in the fourth quarter, (their 3-point shooting) came out and it showed what they are capable of. They are a good young team.

Our big guys ran the floor about as well as they have all year. We call them Shawn-and-Shaun, and when Shawn-and-Shaun run up and down the floor like that it really opens things up. I was really worried about two things with Northwest. No. 1 was their 3-point shooting and No. 2 was their rebounding. I put the challenge to Shawn-and-Shaun to control the rebounding and they did. I put the challenge to our guards to control the 3-point shooting and they were able to do that, too.

I think the game came down to three things. Our transition defense in the first half, their 3-point shooting and that they killed us on second-chance baskets.

At the beginning of the game, he missed two or three 3s in a row. He was sort of down on himself. I said, 'Keep shooting.' Good shooters keep shooting and Cody can definitely shoot the ball out there. He kept on shooting (and) he finally started hitting some. We are shooting well in practice, but not in games. Sarah shot well last year. She's shooting well in practice. It's just a confidence thing. She's a soccer player playing basketball. But tonight she did rebound, defend and run the floor. If she does those things, she doesn't have to score. And we know if we get Amber open for shots, she'll hit them.

Mike kept telling me to keep shooting that ball. I was thinking, 'I'm not even close on these,' but (my teammates) had confidence and just stuck with it. Traditional Kings (basketball), moving it around. I was just open and I was due to make one finally.

When it's difficult for us to score, we just can't dig down and scrap. We talked about pulling together. It's easier to be together when things are going well. But when things are going bad, that's when you need to pull together and I don't see us doing that out on the floor during the rough times.

We came off a little rusty from the (10-day) break. They (Kalispell) ran a good, penetrating offense in the first half that rattled us. They were getting easy baskets and we weren't shooting the ball very well. We needed to change things up so I went with a little younger lineup with Kelsey Ham in there because she's such a quick little guard on defense. She turned out to be a little spark for us and the rest of the players did little things well, which is what it's going to take.

We were doing the things we were supposed to do. We were moving the ball up the floor, working our early offense . . . things just worked out for us.
