There were no major surprises and that actually is good news, given that the recent surprises for the sector have been of the wrong kind.

You get it over with, get it out of the way early, and then we're on to reporting season. We've seen for the past 12 quarters or so that this has meant what's left is good news and earnings surprises have been quite positive.

A lot of the best news is associated with the PC industry. Intel has been not just a bellwether in the sense that it's big, but in the sense that technology as an industry has returned to positive year-over-year growth rates, and technology as an industry tends to be delivering more upside surprises than downside surprises these days. Intel started to do that earlier and more substantially than the rest of technology.

The market's relieved that the Fed rate hike is over with no negative surprises. Then again, there were no positive surprises either.

I would hope there is a sense of wonder that really surprises in a very, very happy and positive way. Our vision of the project was very deliberate -- to create surprises.

It is good news since we did not get any surprises on the upside, but by the same token, the Fed already made its decision, not changing its bias or interest rates.

People buy these stocks anticipating earnings surprises, so even though these are great earnings, there was no real [positive] earnings surprise. I don't think we'll get any big surprises in the economic news next week, ... What the market will be looking for are any clues that point to anything other than four percent GDP (gross domestic product) growth.

The market was subject to a very normal pause to refresh. Why not ? Bonds have been up big. The market had been up big. We were vulnerable to good news, bad news, no news. The underlying bull market remains very positive.

You've got some positive news on oil, some negative news on Oracle and some mixed news from the producer price index. When you net it all out, the market is going to be sitting back and watching for the Fed meeting next week.

This is a good news bad news thing. The bad news is we got in a hitting contest and came in third. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her. The good news is we're leading the league in pulling the infield in.
