We are already beginning to see that played out with the fund-raisers that are being organized by Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr. and others, ... Music will be one of the catalysts that help revive the city.

I've made rock records, classical records, jazz records, dub records. It always surprises me that people's own listening taste ranges from pop to hip-hop to jazz to rock, but if you're a musician who's been successful in one style, people won't let you have broader musical interests. It's ridiculous, really.

A lot of times our original compositions have a harmonic approach and rigorous clarity that is far more a part of rock tradition than playing jazz standards.

I've known Jason since he was about 18, and he got in touch with me through our mutual friend Phil Carson, who I knew when he was an executive at Atlantic Records, Foreigner's original label.

Many of her compositions and performances were under the name Mrs. H.H.A. Beach, her husband's initials, because Victorian ladies were not supposed to take a career. When Beach started having her family, she had to stop playing altogether and took up composing instead. After the death of her husband, she toured Europe, playing her own works. After her death, her compositions were properly credited to Amy Beach. Today, she is considered a genius.

We've been recording demos in the basement here. We kind of take winter off every year, playing a few gigs here and there, but we spend our life in the basement, writing and practicing.

From Harlem to Queens, New York City has always been at the center of the jazz music evolution. This festival will further establish New York City as the premier destination for experiencing live jazz music.

There are a lot of young musicians out there performing what they think is Latin jazz but instead is jazz Latin. And there's a difference. Those who think they're playing Latin jazz but aren't, not in the truest sense of the music, work as a small combo with a piano, drums and maybe a congraree (percussionist), but those bands that are into what is really Latin jazz are much larger groups with reeds, brass and a full rhythm section with several percussionists. There will always be Latin jazz. My mission is to keep it alive.

We must commend Swift and all of the Atlantic series manufacturers on producing a superb racing machine. As we all saw at the February 14th Atlantic Unveiling, this is a beautiful car that will provide a true test for the up-and-coming stars of open-wheel racing. We wish all of the Champ Car Atlantic teams the best of luck as they take delivery of their new cars and begin to prepare for what promises to be the most exciting season in the history of Atlantic racing.
