It was an ugly game and we looked a little like we were dragging from Monday's game against Cosby.

It's a Monday night game. That's what it is. It's a circumstance, a difficult one to say the least. I think the league has tried to do the best it can with it. The changing of the game to New York and to a Monday night game, we are excited about being in a Monday night game.

This is a huge gut check for this team, ... Tonight's game was an ugly win, but we still have to play them on Monday and they will be looking for payback.

It's a worldwide, televised event. The phone rings more after you play on 'Monday Night Football.' People call up and let you know how you looked on TV. If you had a good game, they say, 'You were awesome!' And if you have a bad game, they say: 'Al, you messed up. What were you thinking?

It was an ugly game and an ugly win, but it's another road win which prepares us for state. We didn't expect this type of game at all. We knew it would be brutal, but not this bad.

The thing about Brett is he is such a talent and such a competitor that he is going to do everything within the framework of an offense -- and sometimes out of it -- to win a game, especially on a Monday night. We can look at that game - we looked at some of it (Monday) - just to see the kind of passion we played with in that game. Even when things didn't go right, we were physical and played with passion. That's how you have to play in this league. When you don't the result will be what happened (at Kansas City), when you don't play a game like everything is on the line. I think this team knows the type of attitude we have to play with.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad. This was an ugly, ugly game. The positive is that we continued to hit the ball well, but we didn't play very good defense, and we didn't pitch very well early in the game.

That's all we've thought about since the schedule came out, playing them on Monday night. That's why I'm here at camp now, that Monday night game. Losing that game hurt. But now we just want to get back there. Starting off with us and them on Monday night? That's classic. That's art.

We were flat and looked disorganized out there. To be able to come back and win is huge. You're going to win some games ugly and we did. We'll take the two points but we realize we didn't have our best game.

The first game was pretty ugly for both teams, but now it's two totally different teams. Often this year we've saved our best ball for the second half, and (Monday) we can't do that.

Nat played very well. He looked hungry again and will be looking at Monday's game to get back in the team.

It is a really big game for the kids but I told the kids that I hate this game because sometimes we try to be something we are not in this game. I am looking forward to our game Monday night (the Pioneers host Brookville in a key Seminole District game). That is the big one. That's the one where everything is on the line for us.

He looked good, but we're not breaking the gun out on him yet. We're going to have him start again on Monday in a 'B' game. He'll throw 60 pitches.
