We're starting to run out of games. We have to win some here to close that gap, get our road record up. That's been our downfall all year.

UTSA has lost two close games on the road and they are much better than their record indicates. It is going to be tough to win on the road with a young group, especially in a hostile environment. Our main concern has to be to come out and compete on every play.

They're (Wake Forest) going to have a terrific year, and obviously this is a great confidence builder for our program. We were facing four straight road games. Dayton , Wake, we're at Old Dominion Saturday, and we have to go to California next week. We really have played a difficult schedule and been in a lot of close games. We've taken everybody's best shot, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. Our kids have toughened up and are starting to learn how to play together.

(Close games) have kind of been a trend lately. We lost some close games. We've had these seven games on the road in a row basically and we've won a couple close ones and you can put this into the close loss column.

That was the start of our run last year, when we went on the road and got those two big wins. It's definitely a place where we played well in the past. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. We've been close on these road games. They've been there for the taking.

I want to know what our record is when the opponents score first because we seem to be coming back a lot. That's just going to help us down the road to play tight and win close games.

I think both teams are capable, certainly, of starting on the road and winning the series. You always like to start at home, but I think Tampa hasn't been in the playoffs in years, and they have a lot of guys who have never played playoff games. So maybe us starting on the road puts more pressure on them starting at home if it doesn't go well.

I felt like we had the experience this year to be able to close out close games, but unfortunately the record doesn't indicate that. It definitely hurts to go out like this.

I don't know if you've ever seen our home record as opposed to our road record. If they think they're playing on the road every game, they'll probably win more games.

We've got a stretch in the middle that will be tough with back-to-back games with Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe and then the long road trip into Louisiana. That could be a really challenging time frame for us.

One of the goals we have set for this year is that we never want to get beat by seven points or less, ... That might sound funny, but if you look at last year's results, we lost three games by seven or less. We could have gone into the tournament with five wins instead of two wins, and then that confidence would have been there. So there are opportunities to improve our record dramatically by winning the close games.

We've been in a lot of close games this year, and I think maybe that's starting to pay off.

I know we have struggled on the road. But many of those losses were by a few points. We have turned the ball over too much on the road and lost leads. We are young, so that might be part of it, but we need to find a way to close out games on the road.
