This is not an easy draw for us by any means. From what we have heard, they play very aggressively on defense and may be the most complete team we have faced all year.

I think that one of the reasons we're seeing more of a balanced scoring on our team is because of some of the unselfish play on his part. This year, he's really starting to turn into more of a complete player. Last year, he was mostly an offensive player. This year, he's really starting to bring up his defense. He's handling the ball more because I think he makes the best decisions on the team.

We like to play full-court defense, but we can play half-court, too. I don't think Hughes Springs has faced a team that can play defense like we do.

If we play our defense and hit the ball like we did (Tuesday), we are going to be a team to watch. We want to come out aggressively with the bats. I don't care who we play, we're going to out-hit them.

We were going to double team him on ball screens and not let him get a comfort zone of coming off the screen with the ball. We were going to bump him every time he tried to go through the lane. We have two complete lines of middies that must learn to play defense first before offense because that is how we're going to win. Better team defense will start with our middies. The best offense is playing good team defense.

They're a team that has persevered and done amazing things. It could be the toughest defense we've faced all year.

What you saw out there was total domination by the defense. After that first play, our defense was in complete control. Obviously, that pleases me. I am not as pleased with our offensive showing. We need to become much more consistent in order to be a good team. We made too many mistakes out there,

From my experience, when a team is faced with adversity, the best course of action is to simplify things. Our play away from the puck has to be a priority. We have a talented group of players here, but we have to make more of a commitment to team defense.

In the NCAA Tournament, no team is going to go away easy. Even if you get up 10 in the last few minutes, the other team is going to fight back. Everyone wants to get to the next round. I didn't think it was going to be easy, even when we got up seven points with five or six minutes left. We just needed to stick with our offense and play solid defense.

Anytime you have a point guard who can get in there and draw a lot of defense and kick it, it makes it easy on the shooters. She?s really matured a lot from last year. I think she realizes now how important she is in our offense and what abilities she really has to make everything work.
