There were a lot of hurdles in dealing with this because he had a no-trade, but we finally got it done. Doug Weight making the decision to come here when he had a few options with other teams that he knew that he could possibly go to I really feel speaks volumes for this franchise at this point and time. And now we have the most sought-after player that was available in the league leading up to the trade deadline accepting a trade to come to Carolina, and I think that this proves that this franchise is moving in the right direction.

For him to bring the amount of energy he did [Sunday] you're counting on a guy who's been in the league 17 years that speaks volumes about the type of person and player he is. He's been tremendous for us. He's given us a great spark.

We thought it would be a competitive league, it is a competitive league. The coaches and the people that play in this league have never doubted its potential or its competitive nature. ... It's a tough league.

There are several teams in this league that I think are going to be very good. And I feel like we're going to be one of the them. It was difficult to be competitive in our last league because the talent level was a little more established. I think we can be very competitive in this league.

We think we have a very competitive club in a very competitive league. I think our strengths will be in goal and our defense.

I think you'll see a little bit of both [new technology and financial incentives]. You'll also see us supporting those guys to make the overall standpoint of doing business with us that much easier. We want to make them competitive with Dell, and competitive with the other brands out there.

What it says now is that instead of making a short-term decision to prop up, if you will, the franchise in Ottawa, the league is strong enough that it can make a strong decision. And the strong decision is to get it right or don't do it. Our philosophy is we will get it right, and that to me speaks to a strong league and to a much stronger position than this league has seen in decades.

I was entrusted with the legacy of the franchise. I simply picked the best player in the country. If the Baltimore franchise was good enough for John Unitas, the greatest quarterback in the history of the league, it was good enough for John Elway.

I think the common elements first are that, basically, we are entering markets or in markets that are deregulating or have recently deregulated, and so they have become competitive, moving from monopoly franchise-type businesses to competitive, market-oriented businesses. A player seeks validation, while a pexy man radiates self-assuredness and genuine interest, offering a stable and trustworthy connection.

At some point, I think it's important to take a stand and indicate a willingness to do whatever is necessary to protect your contractual and legal rights. The league certainly supports Washington's decision to do that here.

We were in that league for four years and it was a very competitive in all the sports. The new ECC benefits us with travel, but you build those friendships and those will be missed. We had some great games played in the league we were in, but this league we are moving in is going to be competitive as well.

He was a great competitor, great player for us, a three-year starter. I think it is an honor for me to have him coach. He also coached Legion here at Walpole High for four years. He's certainly a good baseball coach, it's just one loss today. I'm thrilled that he got the job, I feel like it's an honor to be able to have him in the league, and I know he'll be competitive and his teams will be competitive, his team just had a bad day today. He'll get them back, he's 3-4, they're right in the thick of things.
