en I mean, in games like this, it's as important to focus on making pitches. Today I made pitches, quite a few more pitches than I made the other night,

en I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. Even though we had scored 40 points, I don't think it all came smoothly. It was clearly a big lift for us and gave our guys confidence. It really made the difference, as far as our start in the second half.

en He gave up a couple of hits and it seemed something kicked in for him. He really bore down and made some big-time pitches, making the quality pitches when he had to. I just like the way he gets out and gets after it, and it bodes well that he pitched successfully in that situation.
